About
John Tyre is a Certified Specialist in Criminal Law by the State Bar of California. John is a life-long Southern California resident. Since 1982, John has dedicated himself to those accused and charged with crimes. After passing the Bar Exam on his first attempt, John opened an office in Covina, California. For the last 40 years, John has continued this practice. Over his career, John has been chosen to represent those charged with death penalty crimes by a special board of judges in Los Angeles County. Qualifying for this assignment requires years of work, continuing legal education and a vast amount of trial experience. In 2006, Mr. Tyre was selected to represent the worst serial killer in the history of Los Angeles City. (People v. Chester Turner).
In John’s spare time, he spends time training Guide Dogs, enjoying horseracing and golf, and spending time with his wife and daughter.
Representative Experience
John has represented over 15,000 people in Superior Court. John has performed over 400 jury trials. Included in these trials are over 100 murder trials. John has also handed numerous murders in which the death penalty was sought by the prosecution.
